Gig Review: The Baby Shakes, Los Pepes and Young Francis, The Prince Albert, Monday 23rd April 2018.

Powerpop and Bubblegum were the sounds of this evening. Young Francis, newly shorn, started off the evening with his own brand of Garage Punk which got the crowd going. Extra brownie points for providing percussion instruments for the audience to crash and bang along to the final songs of the set. Los Pepes proclaim themselves to be the loudest Powerpop band in the world and were very loud tonight. Volume plus good tunes equal a great time.

The Baby Shakes are often described as The Ronnettes meets The Ramones. Broadly true but live the Glam Rock stomp comes to the fore and that’s no bad thing. Bringing an East Coast vibe, they were groovy and left you wanting more. The perfect tonic for a Monday evening and another cool night courtesy of Stay Sick.
