Brighton musician Matt Finucane is an artist who’s influences and lineage goes back to the 1970s. If you take a bit of David Bowie, a smidgen of Lou Reed and a pinch of Steve Harley you get to the type of sound Matt makes (kinda). If this analogy suggests that the sounds and songs that Matt makes are a facsimile of the above heroes you’d be wrong.
The songs are art-rock without being limp and inhabit a weird version of our world where sounds are suggested rather than heard and Matt is raging against whatever is there. There are other EPs and singles to delve into that Matt has produced but this EP is the perfect place to start.
