Having formed in 2013, Dirt Royal have been making records which reference and build on a mod meets punk sound with a bit of Britrock for good measure too.
Their new single doesn’t deviate from this tried and tested formula. Coming on like a cross between The Jam and The Libertines the song is a lament about youthful dreams and the realities of getting older. Whilst this may sound a bit depressing the music is upbeat and does well the tricky part of making wistfulness danceable.
If the above references to mod, punk, and Britrock are to your tastes, you owe it to yourself to check out the latest track by Dirt Royal (and their back catalogue too) and get some new music in you.
Glory Days is out on 7″ vinyl and via digital platforms on Just Lust Records.
