Time to dust down the horror garb and put the makeup on as it’s Halloween and as is Brighton tradition all small music venues have a gig on where dressing up is encouraged whilst you wig out to cool bands. This year The Green Door Store won out with five bands for free and old horror films being projected onto the walls, why wouldn’t you…
Openers School Disco: Psych meets garage with doom on the side. Four to the floor metal grooves. Nice and loud with a touch of the early Black Sabbath about them. Perfect for Samhain.
Bitch Theme: Grunge/Riot Grrrl sound with hints of Canadian band Kittie from the 90s. New ep due soon.
Mighty Orchard King: From St Albans they came, spreading the good word clad in white robes with red sashes. Classic rock with prog flourishes. Five disciples in a Polyphonic Spree away kit. On a night of sinners and fallen angels, they were divine and many were converted.
Wizard Sleeve: Naughtiness in spades. Great cover of She’s Not There. Best mosh pit of the night. Check out their latest ep too!
For tonight’s headliners Dirty this was also a launch party for their new ep. Grunge with 80s goth tinge at times but all the big fat 90s grunge riffs you’ll ever need. Ones to watch.
