Third album for Desperate Journalist, which Jo has described herself as being more ‘grown up’ than their previous releases. Thematically the album deals with loss and travel, whether literally or metaphorically. The songs include ‘Jonatan‘ which is in tribute to a friend who took his own life and ‘Cedars‘ which meditates on the loss of youth but appreciating the past and looking forward today and tomorrow. Sonically the band are very much wedded to a UK Indie 80s sound and as said by many listeners and journalists previously, Jo has a voice not a million miles away from Morrissey’s own. A strong release which Indie fans will enjoy.
